A 16-year-old boy says the mysterious stomach ache that put him in the hospital bed was so bad, it felt like he was being stabbed from the inside out. Doctors were perplexed and worried so they performed exploratory surgery on his small intestine.  It was discovered that he ate a wire the size of a hair from a common grill brush that apparently came off and stuck to the chicken he was eating at a family barbecue.

A sizable percentage of women who undergo mastectomies for breast cancer continue to suffer bothersome pain from the surgery for at least 10 years, researchers said. Of the 369 patients who were followed for as long as 10 years, 19.5 percent reported post-mastectomy neuropathic pain.

A surgeon at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City has been relieved of his duties at the hospital after removing the wrong kidney from the man who had been on dialysis because of two diseased kidneys.
