Parietex™ ProGrip™ Mesh from Covidien is the a self-gripping, semi-resorbable, lightweight mesh available for open inguinal hernia repair. Features of the biocomponent mesh include:

• Monofilament polyester (PET).
• A resorbable polylactic acid (PLA) gripping system.
• Micro-grips that spread the fixation across 100 percent of the surface area, which may not require the need for sutures which may reduce time in the OR.
• The ability to lower the potential for chronic postoperative pain related to suture fixation points and provide a tension-free mesh repair.
