Heart Biopsy May Mean Trouble For Tricuspid Valve

It may be worthwhile to find a noninvasive way to test for heart transplant rejection because the conventional biopsy method is associated with a higher risk of severe tricuspid regurgitation, a researcher said here.

The odds ratio for the number of biopsies to be associated with severe tricuspid regurgitation was 1.17 (95 percent CI 1.07 to 1.27, P<0.0003), Hayek said at the annual meeting of the American Society of Echocardiography.
