Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj, Director of The Aesthetic Institute of New York and New Jersey, recently announced he’ll be using a new rhinoplasty procedure that eliminates traditional packing and the subsequent painful removal.
The pain associated with the post-operative removal of nasal packing is a commonly cited fear among rhinoplasty candidates. Dr. Slupchynskyj feels he has eliminated this fear by utilizing advancements in packing material, including a plant-based biopolymer that is absorbed by the body in about 24 hours. This allows him to retain the clot-promoting effects of conventional packing while eliminating the painful removal.
“Rhinoplasty can be performed with minimal or no bleeding post-operatively, therefore with a majority of my patients, I don't use nasal packing,” he states.
Dr. Slupchynskyj is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology with training specific to the head, neck and face.
