Cardinal Health announces the company is donating approximately $1 million worth of supplies through four organizations: World Vision, AmeriCares, Map International and Heart to Heart International. To most efficiently help meet the critical needs on the ground in Haiti, and leverage resources and the capabilities of relief organizations, they are directing donations through these four organizations. Donated products include:
- Emergency medical supplies such as protective caps and gowns.
- More than 3,500 cases of industrial, exam and surgical gloves.
- Bandages and dressings.
- Needles and syringes.
- Surgical sutures and staplers.
- Basic surgical kits.
- Hygiene kits for adults, infants and children (items such as diapers, wipes and soap).
- Other essential health items.
To date, Cardinal Health employees have donated more than $50,000 to World Vision for this relief effort. This is being matched 100 percent by the Cardinal Health Foundation for a total of more than $100,000.
The Foundation is also donating an additional $25,000 to World Vision to purchase supplies that they don't distribute, which will be combined with donations from a variety of other sources to create special family survival kits. These kits will help provide a family of five with basic necessities such as shelter and cooking supplies. Cardinal distribution center employees have logged extra hours to pick, pack, sort and ship product donations to respond to this disaster while continuing to meet all current customer commitments.
