The O-arm allows for precise placement of spinal instrumentation during surgery. Baptist Hospital is currently Pensacola's only hospital with this advanced surgical equipment.
Dr. Reichwage uses the O-arm to place spinal hardware such as pins and plates in the precise location using 3-D image guidance. While visualizing the bony anatomy he also is able to stay clear of delicate neurovascular structures, resulting in the best possible outcome and avoiding repeated surgeries.
Pensacola resident, Walter Claggett, was desperate for relief after developing complications from three previous spinal surgeries, two of which he traveled out of state to receive. Following the second surgery, a bone growth on his spine caused severe nerve damage leaving him in chronic pain and immobile.
