InteliFUSE has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance to distribute shape memory implants for surgeries involving the foot, ankle, hand and wrist. The company is also seeking FDA clearance for surgeries involving the large bones, spine and cranio-maxillofacial areas. One patented device, StimuLINK, (made of Nitinol, a nickel-titanium alloy) stimulates osteogenesis, the ability of the body to grow new bone. StimuLINK uses dynamic compression forces between bone fragments to repair, fuse and remodel fractures and deformities. A second patented device, the Warmsystem®, provides the warming that causes the StimuLINK implant to “compress” or “distract” to the precise shape needed for bone remodeling and repair. Drill bits, drill guides and other accessories are also part of this patented system. As a result of this new surgical intervention, patients experience less trauma and scarring, quicker procedure times and speedier post-operative recovery.
