Regional Oxygen Saturation Monitor
The INVOS® Cerebral/Somatic Oximeter is a noninvasive oximeter that can simultaneously monitor changes in regional oxygen saturation (rSO2) of blood in both cerebral and skeletal muscle tissue. To enable simultaneous cerebral/somatic monitoring, Somanetics' engineers redesigned the INVOS System and doubled the number of data channels from two to four. This allows critical care teams to place sensors over somatic tissue without moving those already on the forehead for cerebral monitoring. The sensors provide oxygenation values for the regions directly beneath the sensors and can result in an earlier warning signal than traditional, systemic (whole body) measures.
