Bracketing System for Breast Biopsy

Ranfac has developed a Bracketing System designed to prevent accidental shearing during biopsies. In trying to reduce the high incidence of positive margins and the need for re-excision or mastectomy after single hooked wire excisions, a system of placing multiple hooked wires around the perimeter of a lesion before excision has become more common. Surgeons benefit from stiffening cannulas supplied in their own sterile pouch, which provide a palpable landmark, an indication of the wire course and prevents accidental shearing. The single-use, disposable units are available in three sizes and consist of two needles, two spring hook wire with locating mark to orient location of wire, and two stiffening cannula in a separate sterile pouch.
