Neurostimulator Device For Treatment Of OSA

ImThera Medical, Inc. unveils its new product, the aura6000™ neurostimulation system for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). According to the company, more than 800,000 patients in the US are annually diagnosed with OSA. While Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the established therapy, studies show that only 54 percent of patients comply with CPAP.

The SynergyPlus+™ implantable neurostimulation system for chronic pain is designed to give patients more control over the delivery of stimulation that blocks pain signals from reaching the brain while performing a variety of daily activities. The SynergyPlus+ offers up to 26 program options. Using a small, hand-held “remote control” programming device, patients can choose among multiple settings that are preset by a physician to address pain levels associated with different daily tasks, such as standing, walking or laying down.
