This ultrasound probe (UM-DG20-31R) has been designed to meet the unique demands of intraductal ultrasonography (IDUS). It is the first ultrasound probe to offer both a guidewire port and dual plane reconstruction (DPR) functionality, making IDUS easier and more efficient. The guidewire port facilitates a transpapillary approach to the bile and pancreatic duct to make IDUS procedures easier to perform. DPR functionality, which allows simultaneous views of the radial and linear planes, makes it easier to interpret ultrasound images and define the penetration and longitudinal borders of the region of interest. With the probe’s linear scanning range reaching up to 40 mm, the entire biliary or pancreatic duct can be scanned in just a few passes, which means examinations can be performed more rapidly.
