The CardioVu is a small camera encapsulated by optical fibers which bring white xenon light directly to the surgical field. The camera is secured via a goose neck clamp to a retractor. Key benefits of the CardioVu are that the surgical site is continuously in view at all times, without shake and motion induced by camera movements. The image is parallax-free as a result of the light and camera being concentrically placed. In addition, the surgeon does not suffer from neck fatigue during long procedures and is not tied to a light source.
