The Surgical Devices business unit of Covidien introduces the Duet TRS™ reload with tissue reinforcement. The new product offers:

• Preloaded tissue reinforcement on the Endo GIA™ Universal range of laparoscopic staplers.
• A synthetic absorbable polymer reinforcement material that is preloaded on each SULU.
• Proprietary fixation of the reinforcement material keeping it flat and secure during placement and manipulation on the tissue.
• Reinforcement material and anchoring sutures that secure the material are made of Biosyn™ polymer.
• The ability for the absorbable material to retain measurable mechanical strength through 14 days and for absorption to essentially complete between 90 and 110 days.
