Labels For Hard-to-Scan Containers

Tue, 11/02/2010 - 5:26am
As bar coding becomes more prevalent in all areas of the health care complex, increasing numbers of products require scanning. Attempts at scanning 1-D (linear) bar codes can frequently often prove frustrating on small or irregularly shaped containers. Often, the entire bar code is not fully visible for the scanner to successfully read it. Consequently, work-arounds are devised and necessary medication dispensing can be delayed.

Medi-Dose/EPS has addressed this vital issue with its new LiquiDose Square Labels.  When used with its successful MILT 3.0 software, the new LiquiDose Square Labels can accommodate complete medication identification with a comprehensive bar code.  By turning the label 90 degrees, scanning is no longer hindered by the curvature of the container.

Three sizes of square labels are available: 1”, 1.33” and 2.66” for either laser or direct themal printers.  Through MILT 3.0, an appropriate bar code size and symbology can be selected for the container and label.  In addition, Graphics, Special Fonts, Tall Man Lettering, Shapes and Logos can all be included on your labels.  All LiquiDose Square Labels have an FDA acceptable adhesive that can be used with blood and IV products.
