Study: Estrogen-Lowering Drugs Minimize Surgery In Breast Cancer Patients

A nationwide study has shown that estrogen-lowering drugs can increase the likelihood that breast cancer patients can undergo breast-conservation surgery, instead of mastectomy. The study was lead by Siteman medical oncologist Matthew Ellis, MD, BChir, PhD. Siteman Breast surgeon Julie Margenthaler, MD, was the lead investigator at the Washington University site.
